Christopher Barger is the CEO and Founder of Christopher Barger Communications. He is a globally recognized leader and pioneer in the field of digital communications and marketing, and has nearly two decades of strategic corporate communications experience. He advises organizations — from global corporations to small businesses — on aligning digital strategy and tactics with business objectives, on applying the principles of storytelling to business content and communications, and on effective storytelling across multiple platforms, both digital and traditional.

During his five year tenure at Voce Communications, he consulted with companies ranging from Disney Parks, PlayStation, the World Health Organization, the Almond Board of California, HP, Applied Materials, Pentaho, and HGST among many others, helping these companies build digital

Before arriving at Voce, Christopher was director of global social media at General Motors, building the company’s social media program and leading its presence across multiple social networks, earning an Excellence in New Communications award for the company from the Society of New Communications Research (SNCR) in 2007. His work to repair GM’s post-bankruptcy reputation in the social web won him PR News’ “Social Media Leader of the Year” award in 2010. Christopher also previously managed social media initiatives and corporate communications for IBM, serving from 2005-2007 as that company’s first “Blogger-in-Chief” and playing the pivotal role in the development of IBM’s social media program.

Christopher is the author of the book “The Social Media Strategist” (McGraw Hill, 2012), and was a contributor to Forbes’ CMO Network through his blog, “The Social Media Report.”

Christopher is a talented and frequently requested public speaker on digital media principles and technologies. He has spoken at hundreds of conferences and events across the United States, Canada, the UK, Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand, at events sponsored by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Ragan Communications, Council of Communication Management, The Canadian Institute, Philadelphia University, the Advanced Learning Institute, Communitelligence, Blogging For Business, and Capital City Communicators — as well as at corporate events in Europe, the Middle East and South America. He has been designated an IABC All-Star Speaker.
